I have the opportunity to join Team Broken Earth again for my third mission. This June, Team Ottawa is proud to be heading to the Duquesa landfill community in the Dominican Republic.
Alongside our partners at Community Empowerment and RUSH University, a committed group of Ottawa-based volunteers will offer vital primary healthcare services to families living in Duquesa —one of the largest landfill sites globally. The area is home to many Haitian migrant families who navigate extreme living conditions and significant barriers to healthcare.
By working hand in hand with community members, our team aims to provide not only medical care, but also dignity, understanding, and solidarity to a population that is too often unseen. At the core of this work is a commitment to equity, compassion, and the fundamental right to healthcare for all.
We welcome your support as we continue building meaningful connections and delivering care where it’s needed most.
