Help Nikki & Yvonne Bring Healing (and a Few Laughs) to Rural Guatemala

 

From May 23 to 30, 2026, Nikki and her partner-in-crime Yvonne will trade their comfy beds and coffee machines for a week in the mountains of rural Guatemala. They’ll join 15 volunteer medical professionals with Team Broken Earth to bring care, compassion, and a bit of Canadian charm to communities that have little or no access to healthcare.

 

The team will be working in the Quiché Department, in the northwestern highlands, home to the K’iche’ Maya people. These areas face major challenges in accessing basic medical care, and that’s where this mission steps in.

 

What They’ll Be Doing

• Triage and assess patients who need surgery
• Teach local youth about health and wellness (and maybe some bad jokes)
• Provide follow-up care and supplies for babies recovering from cleft palate surgery
• Offer primary care to families who rarely have the chance to see a healthcare professional

This isn’t a vacation. Nikki and Yvonne are volunteering their time and skills, and each needs to raise $2,500 to cover travel, accommodations, and medical supplies. Every dollar helps get them closer to the communities that need their care — and you can bet they’ll make every moment count.
