Make a General Team Donation to Support the October 2019 Mission to Haiti!

Team Broken Earth is a non-profit group of volunteer Canadian healthcare professionals that provides medical assistance to Haiti and other underdeveloped countries, where some people wait for months with broken bones and other life-changing injuries. There are several Broken Earth Teams across Canada, including here in Ottawa.

In October 2019, Broken Earth's Team Ottawa will be returning to Port-au-Prince, Haiti for its fourth medical mission at the Bernard Mevs Hospital. Many of our team members will be repeat participants who are looking forward to the trip with great enthusiasm. Our team is keen to build on its efforts from last year, as well as to continue the work of the other Broken Earth teams from across Canada. One of the most rewarding aspects of these missions is the focus on providing sustainable collaborative care with our Haitian colleagues, as we provide not only clinical care, but also education to help improve the local knowledge and skills.

As you might imagine, a trip like this is expensive to conduct. All of the work is performed on a volunteer basis, but the team must provide medical equipment and supplies, and cover patient expenses at the hospital in Haiti. There are also travel and logistics expenses for the team. We have created this fundraising page to collect donations in support of this effort, as it costs approximately $2000 for each member to participate in the mission, which is funded only by donations.
