2009-09-02: New functionality for Canadian eTax Receipts

ISSUE A SINGLE OR MULTIPLE TAX RECEIPTS ...

We've relaunched the Bulk Receipts section for Canadian eTax Receipts, with many new features which we hope you will love!

ALERTS FOR RECEIPT NUMBERS

Don't run out of tax receipt numbers again. Now you can ...
  • Setup an alert so that the coordinator is notified by email when the number of remaining tax receipt numbers reaches a threshold of your choice.
  • View the number of remaining tax receipt numbers available in the system from the main menu of the donation service.

CONTROL THE SETTINGS OF YOUR RECEIPT ...

The new Setup Receipts section has been expanded to include other details of your receipt setup, in addition to entering your receipt numbers:
  • Change the coordinator to receive copies of all eTax receipts issued for all activities (online donations; yearly receipts for recurring donors; donations made through the Pledge-a-thon, Registrar or Membership service; batched receipts issued manually). Tax Receipts will no longer be sent to the key contact of your account.
  • Preview a sample receipt.
  • Edit the setup of the tax receipt by making changes to the officer title and mailing address.
  • Modify the Short and Long Messages on the right side of the receipt. Short messages could include your telephone, website, email, or Location Issued (e.g. Location Issued: Ottawa.ON).
  • Enter your range of eTax receipt numbers.

  1. What action must I take?

    Please confirm the coordinator setup to receive copies of all receipts. 

  2. How do I change the email message used for the Canadian eTax Receipts?

    A different email message will be used when issuing a Canadian eTax Receipt, depending on how the online donation is made. For donations made through ...

    • For each Appeal, change the text for the email that accompanies the eTax receipt when an online donation is made.
    • For each Pledge-a-thon, change the text for the email that accompanies the eTax receipt when a donation is made during a Pledge-a-thon registration or when someone sponsors a participant online.
    • For each Event, change the text for the email that accompanies the eTax receipt when a donation is made during an event registration.
    • For each Membership, change the text for the email that accompanies the eTax receipt when a donation is made during a member registration/renewal.

  3. What happens if the number of remaining tax receipts drops to zero?

    The number of remaining tax receipts drops to zero when your block of receipt numbers previously entered into the system have been used up and there are no longer any receipt number available for use. As soon as possible, enter a new block of receipt numbers in the Setup Receipts section.

  4. What should I do if a tax receipt was not issued to an online donor?

    There are a variety of reasons why a tax receipt may not have been issued to a donor.

    If an online donation was processed when no receipt numbers where available in the system, an etax receipt would not have been issued to this donor.
